Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation for refractory glaucoma.

Objective To explore the effect of Ahmed glaucome valve(AGV) implantation for refractory glaucoma,and to prevent the complications.Methods 21 patients underwent Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation,the mean period of follow-up was 6-20 months.Results The success rate for intraocular pressure was 85.7% after the operation.The common postoperative complications included transient flat anterior chamber and high intraocular pressure in early stage and fibrination in late stage.Conclusions Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation is one of the effective methods for refractory glaucoma.
