An analysis on sentinel lymph node biopsy marked with methylene-blue in 100 cases of breast cancer

Objective To determine the value of sentinel lymph node biopsy for breast cancer.Methods 100 cases of breast tumor without axillary lymph node(ALN) by palpation were enrolled in this study.Results All patients were treated by segment resection plus axillary lymph node dissection.Biopsies of sentinel lymph nodes and axillary lymph nodes were taken in all patients.The sensitivity of SLNB was 97.44%,its accurate rate was 92.71%,its false negative rate was 10.26%,and its false positive rate was 7.69%.There was no significant difference between effect of detection of metastasis by sentinel lymph node or axillary lymph node biopsy.Conclusion Intraoperative lymphatic detection with methylene blue alone as a means of localizing SLN in patients with breast cancer may be beneficial for patients by simplifying the procedure and improving the quality of life.
