Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of adefovir dipivoxil treatment on patients with chronic hepatitis B.Methods Adefovir dipivoxil and lamivudine were given to 39 patients with HBeAg-positive,and adefovir dipivoxil was given to 12 with HBeAg-positive and to 14 with HBeAg-negative hepatitis B,respectively for 24 weeks.Results Serum HBV DNA undetectable rates at 3 mon,6 mon,12 mon and 24 mon both in HBeAg-positive patients with adefovir dipivoxil and lamivudine or in HBeAg-negative patients with adefovir dipivoxil alone were higher than in HBeAg-positive patients with adefovir dipivoxil alone;the normalization of ALT in the three groups were not significantly different.Conclusion We recommend combination of adefovir dipivoxil and lamivudine therapy for patients HBeAg-positive hepatitis B.
