Abstract

A numerical model of the coupling effect by both astronomical tide and storm surge based on Mike21 is applied to the coastal region of Zhejiang province. The model is used to simulate the tidal water level processes with less errors during 5typhoons,including 2 super typhoons, landed in the province. The 5612super typhoon is used as typical super typhoon, which is the most intensive typhoon landed in China. and The storm-tide currents were calculated if super typhoon is landing by 3 designed routes from north to south, and the result shows that storm-tide current is less than linear imposition of astronomical current with storm current; storm-tide current field has more characters of storm current field; storm-tide current flows along the coastal line in open sea, which is more important for the study of material transport and abrupt sedimentation of navigation channel.
