Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of submucoperiosteous partial resection(SPR) for chronic hyper-trophic rhinitis(CHR) with inferior turbinate bony hypertrophy by nasal endoscopy. Methods 113 patients(162 sides) have been performed with SPR,and have a follow-up ranging from 6 months to 3 years. Results 113 cases were followed up postoperatively for 6 months,99 patients was healed and 14 patients improved.67 cases have a follow-up ranging from 2 to 3 years after the procedure and 6 patients relapsed. All of the patients had less bleeding and less adverse reaction. There no scars left on the inferior turbinate mucosa. All the cases had neither drying flu at nasal mucosa nor inferior turbinate mucosa atrophy. Conclusions SPR by nasal endoscopy has a good view, and can improve nasal airflow, avoid the damage of the inferior turbinate mucosa, restore the functions of cilia as well. This is a favorable operation for CHR with hyperplasia of inferior turbinate bone.
