Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of a single epidural injection of steroids and local anesthetics in the treatment of acute herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia(PNH).Methods 24 herpes zoster patients and 25 PHN were enrolled in this study.the changes of the VAS score treated by epidural injection agents were observed. Results There was significantly decreasing of the VAS score in two groups,6 and 4,respectively.There was significant difference of the VAS changes(P0.05)in the two groups. Conclusion Epidural injection has a promising efficacy in the treatment of either acute herpes zoster or PHN,especially in the acute herpes zoster patients.
