Abstract
Cnidocampa flavescens Walker is a serious insect - pest which damages forest,fruit - trees and garden - trees. It has one generation a year in Hengyang area, Hunan province, passing over summer and winter as mature larva in cocoon. The overwintering larvae pupate in mid - April and pupa stage lasts 20 to 25 days. The adult appears in mid - May and larva hatches in the last ten days of May. In the last June and the first July the mature larvae begin to make cocoon. From mid - July to the last May of the next year it is not discovered in field except the cocoon with mature larvae in because of its diapause habit. The larva harm stage lasts only one month or so and its diapause stage lasts more than 280 days in cocoon.
