Abstract
STL file is widely used as the data input in rapid prototyping system. This paper analyzes all kinds of slight features that exit in the STL file, such as peaks, valleys, flat areas, and staircase effect which will influence the accuracy of the workpiece. An integrated slicing algorithm is proposed in this paper, which will obtain the optimal slicing thickness and repair the positive or negative tolerance. This algorithm is adaptively to be used in the rapid prototyping technology with changeable slicing thickness.
