Abstract
An inhibitory kinetic spectrophotometric method was proposed for the determination of trace fluoride. The method was based on the inhibitory effect of fluoride on the oxidation of methyl red with H2O2 enhanced by phenanthroline as an activitor in the mitric acid medium. The linear range of the determination is 0. 5-5. 0 ug/mL and the detection limit is 3. 8X 10-2ug/mL. This method was used to determine fluoride in the toothpast and water.
