Research on Moving Characteristic and Desulphurization of Fine Coals in the Falcon Centrifugal Separator

Abstract

The characteristic and separation principle of the Falcon centrifugal gravity separator were introduced.Through analyzing forces exerted on fine particle in the Falcon centrifugal gravity force field and calculating the terminal velocity,the relation between settling time and centrifugal acceleration was obtained.The result indicates that the bigger the centrifugal acceleration is,the bigger the density difference between the coal particle and medium solid is,and the bigger the diameter of coal particle is,the shorter the settling time is.Based on analyzing the moving characteristics of pulp stream inside,the change law of tangent velocity of fine coal particle in different thin layers of pulp stream was discussed,and the result shows that the tangent velocity increased gradually in radial direction.By comparing the desulfurization result of Falcon test with that of timed release test,the result shows that the average desulphurization efficiency using the centrifugal gravity force field separation is higher by about 5% than that using floatation.
