Abstract
Literary works in ancient history possess multiple cultural characteristics.Novels of Han Dynasty and the Six Dynasties show characteristics of geography, natural science, history and religion as well as stylistic elements such as literary imagination, narration and character description. The existence of these cultural patterns limits the literariness of the works, resulting in an affiliated pattern of plot, form, and artistic method to certain cultural form or writing motivation. It has to be considered in the compilation of literary history.
