Abstract
We investigate the association of the 27bp VNTR polymorphism of the endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS) gene with essential hypertension(EH) in the Han people in Xinjiang.Based on the case-control study,we selected 346 patients with essential hypertension(EH group)and 385 healthy people(NT group) in the Han people from the Boertonggu countryside of Shawan region in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous.Region of China by random cluster sampling. After questionnaire and physical examination,we collected blood samples,The polymorphisms of eNOS gene in the study groups were detected with fluorescent amplified product length polymorphism analysis system.Frequency and allele frequency were calculated and compared. The frequencies of bb.aa.ab.bc genotypes of eNOS gene were 278(80.3%),3(0.9%),65(18.8%),0(0%)in EH group respectively and 306(79.5%),4(1.0%),74(19.2%),1(0.3%) in NT group respectively. The frequencies of b,a and c were 621(89.7%),71(10.3%),0(0%) in EH group and 687(89.2%),82(10.6%),1(0.2%) in NT group. The result of related analysis in groups indicated that no significant difference was observed in the comparison of either genotype frequencies or allele distribution between hypertension and control groups(P0.05).The polymorphism of eNOS gene 27bp VNTR may not be associated with essential hypertension in the Han people in Xinjiang.
