Abstract

Pumpkin'shiji star' was used as rootstock for melon 'Yumeiren' in solar greenhouse, and the own-root plant was used as control. The effects of grafting on growth and development and sugar accumulation of melon were studied, respectively. The results indicated that growth and edvelopment and fruit enlargint.rate of melon could be promoted of grafting.Dry matter accumulation in fruit and averge single melon weight increased. However, pulp thickness of graft melon fruit was thinner than the own-root fruit. The soluble solids in grafted fruit were lower than the own-root fruit.Glucose and sucrose content ripe grafted fruit decreased and fructose content was affected little. Therefore,Total sugar content decreased in grafted melon fruit.Strach content in ripe melon was higher than own-root melon fruit.
