Abstract
【Objective】The present experiment was conducted to study dynamic changes of fruit growth and quality in two melon varieties (Eureka and Fino 47), to provide references for quality evaluation. 【Method】Dynamic changes of fruit growth, total sugar content, vitamin C content, soluble solid content, citric acid content, citrate synthetase (CS) activity, phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC) activity in fruit of melon varieties were determined and analyzed. 【Result】The longitudinal and traverse diameter of fruit showed rapid increase at first, followed by gradual decrease in two varieties The quality parameters of fruit for the two melon varieties appeared same change trends, except vitamin C, the contents of titrated acid, total sugar, soluble solid were higher in Fino 47 than in Eureka from the later stage of fruit development to maturation stage. The activities of two enzymes (CS and PEPC) were positively correlated with acid content in the two melon varieties. 【Conclusion】Fino 47, which comprehensive quality was superior to Eureka, was an elite candidate in melon varieties replacement.
