Application of cartilage of nasal septum in nasal tip plastic

Objective The therapeutic methods and effects of utilizing the cartilage of nasal septum in plastic surgeries for bulbous and flat nasal tip are discussed in this article.Methods For all 35 patients,using Open-incision method,first trimmed redundant soft tissues of nasal tip according to various nasal tip contours.Then cut out the cartilage of nasal septum,with which,construct the framework of tip and columella,thus remodeled the tip's contour.Results Since 2005,35 patients were treated with aforementioned method.According to half to 2 years' follow-up,satisfactory and stable effects were achieved in 29 cases,and only 6 bulbous-tip cases still have relatively flat tips.Conclusion The usage of cartilage of nasal septum in plastic surgeries for bulbous and flat nasal tip can acquire favorable effects.
