Abstract
Mg-Al-Si alloys will form a coarse Mg2Si phase during the process of solidification, which can impair the properties of material seriously. The dimension, morphology and properties can be improved by the addition of Sb.The results show that the structure of the as-cast Mg-Al-Si alloy is changed significantly. The primary Mg2Si phase disappear gradually with increase of Sb content and the dendritic Mg2Si become more finer and dispersive. When the Sb content is 1.0wt%,the primary Mg2Si disappeared completely, and the tensile strength reaches the maximum.
