ON UNIFIED DIVISION AND CORRELATION OF THE EARLY CAMBRIAN STRATA IN THE NORTH CHINA STRATIGRAPHIC PROVINCE

Abstract
A new sedimentary area division map is compiled on the basis of definite correlations of a couple of hundred of early Cambrian stratigraphic sections with the normal sequence(2 formations and 2 sub formations, 15 members and 1 sub member) and zonal sequence( 6 Trilobita zones) in the Huainan area of Anhui in the North China Stratigraphic Province. Five sedimentary areas are divided based on if there exists the Houjiashan Formation and if the lower sub of the Mantou Formation is complete,and the correlation of each of them with the normal sequence zonal sequence has been discussed. The stratohorizon ownerships of local rock stratigraphic units have been made clear for the Wushan Formation,Liguan Formation,Jianchang Formation,Xinji Formation, Zhushadong Formation, Suyukou Formation, Wudaotang Formation,Changping Formation, Fujunshan Formation,Laozhuanghu Formation, Shuidong Formation, Heigou Formation etc.Three sedimentary discontinuities( the Wanbei uplift,Yushan uplift and Yanliao uplift ) concerning early Cambrian strata have been confirmed to belong to the renewed three stages of Jixian Movement.
