Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of radiofrequency current ablation for paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia(PSVT). Methods Radiofrequency current ablation(RFCA) was performed in 1?000 patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. The average duration of follow-up was 25±19(range 1 ~ 110 months). Results All patients were treated by radiofrequency current ablation with a total success rate of 98.9%. Among 590 patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia caused by atrioventricular accessory pathways, 588 atrioventricular accessory pathways were successfully ablated with a success rate of 98.3%(588/598). In 410 patients with atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia, the slow pathways were successfully abolished in 409 patients with a success rate of 99.8%. Complications occurred in 14 patients(1.4%). During follow-up, PSVT recurred in 16 patients(1.6%) and was permanently eliminated by reapplication of RFCA. Conclusion RFCA is a highly valuable non-drug therapy for PSVT with a high success rate, few complications, and low recurrence.
