Abstract
Variations in chemical compositions of oleoresin from Pinus elliottii Engelm. in different tapping seasons were studied. The results show that the turpentine from P. elliottii Engelm. contains a rather great percentage of β-pinene (in average 33. 63%). The content of turpentine in gum, as well as the contents of α-pinene,β-pinene and the ratio of a-pinene/β-pinene in turpentine is closely related to the season of oleo-resin production. The correlation coefficient of them are 0. 79,- 0. 49, 0. 62,-0. 56 respectively. The increase of turpentine content in gum is mainly due to the increase of β-pinene but not related with the α-pinene content. The β-pinene content grows up along with the progressing of the season of oleoresin production.
