Abstract
This paper studies the distributional patterns of genera and species of Eumolpid beetles of Fujian Province, China, their zoogeography and the fauna relation to other regions within or around China. Most of the Fujian Eumolpid genera are of southern elements, some of them are widely distributed, but hardly any one can be treated as typical northern genus. Most of the species (85.7%) have a typical distributional pattern that covers the whole or a part of the Monsoon Region of East Asia and can be divided into five different variations. 14.3% of the species are endemic to Fujian Province. Some species distribute widely in tropical Asia(10.5% of the total) or in the whole Asia (only one species). Only 4 species can be categorized to northern elements. According to the zoogeographical analysis, Fujian fauna belongs to the Oriental Realm (92.5% of the species are Oriental elements). Fujian has 60 species in common with Yunnan Province, 40 with Taiwan Is., 46 with Hainan Is., 27 with Japan, and 33 with IndoChina, but only 2 are in common with Xizang (Tibet) and Xinjiang. It is remarkable that there is a gradual transition and strong introgression of the Oriental and Palaearctic elements in East China, which is of great interest to the studies on world biogeography.
