Abstract
Objective: To study the relationships between p53 protein expression and the clinico-pathologic parameters in stage I breast cancer.Methods: With anti-p53 monoclonol antibody, by immunohistochemical methods, tissues from 112 paraffin-embedding specimens of stage I breast cancer were tested for p53 protein expression levels. Results: 1.Of 112 cases,p53 protein was expressed in 60.71% (68/112) which was associated with high histologic grade (P0.05).2.p53 protein expression has a positive trend with lymphonode metastatic rate while negative with 5-,10-,and 15-years free-disease survival rate (P0.05).3.p53 protein expresses no evident relationship with other clinico-pathologic parameters, such as ER or PR status, age, pathologic types etc(P 0.05) Conclusion:p53 protein expression levels may serve as a valuable prognostic parameter of breast cancer, which needs to be investigated further.
