Investigation on heart rate turbulence in patients suffering vasovagal syncope

Abstract

Objective To observe the changes of heart rate turbulence(HRT) in patients suffering vasovagal syncope.Methods The dynamic electrocardiograms of 42 newly-onset patients with vasovagal syncope(the study group) were recorded on the day syncope happened,1 week later and 3 months later.Forty age-matched healthy individuals(the control group) also underwent dynamic electrocardiogram examination.The turbulence onset(TO) and turbulence slope(TS) were analyzed.Results The average and abnormality rate of TO and TS showed statistically significant difference between the two groups on the day syncope happened(P0.05),which showed no statistically significant difference 1 week later and 3 months later(P0.05).Conclusion The patients suffering vasovagal syncope have abnormal HRT on the day syncope happened,thus HRT maybe a simple diagnostic method of vasovagal syncope.
