Abstract
Taking the double-column pier as the research project, using the added water mass to consider the water effects on a bridge pier based on the Morison hydrodynamic pressure formula and considering the nonlinear characteristics of the soil and the concrete, the analysis model on seismic responses of the water-piles-soil-bridge pier structure system is built up,and then the relative displacement, acceleration, shear force, moment responses by the water and its hydrodynamic pressure coefficient under the earthquake are analyzed. The results show that the hydrodynamic pressure changes the seismic response characters of the pier, and increases the relative displacement and acceleration of the pier top,and also increases the internal force of the pier bottom. It is much more accordant with the actual situation considering the effects of the hydrodynamic pressure in the seismic design of the pier.
