Abstract
Hydroxy-4-octyloxybenzophenones was prepared by reaction of 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone with 1-bromoctane by adding Dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride in KOH. The effect of different phase tremsfer agent, water amount and reaction time on UV-531 yield was investigated. Its optimal condition was pointed out, The ratio of UV-214 to KOH to C 8H 17 Br to dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride to water was 0.06∶0.07∶0.06∶0.002∶0.25(mol),and the reaction time was 6 h,and the yield of UV-531 was 93.2 %,so dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride was very good phase agent.
