Renal artery embolization for traumatic renal hemorrhage

Object:To discuss the clinical effect of renal artery embolization for traumatic renal hemorrhage.Methods:Sixteen cases with traumatic renal hemorrhage had the clinical appearance of hematuria.All cases were used the skill of Seldinger and performed renal angiography to ensure the rupture site and degree of renal artery.Gelfoam and or steel coils were used to embolize the rupture artery.Results:Sixteen cases were embolized successfully,and vextravasation staining disappear after the embolization without severe complications.Urine with macroscopic hematuria disappeared 1-4 days after embolization.Conclusions:Renal artery embolization for traumatic renal hemorrhage is a kind of method which is minimally invasive,safe,effective and maximal preservation of renal tissue and function.It should be the first choice for traumatic renal hemorrhage.
