Abstract

Objective To discuss the application of transcatheter super-selective arterial embolization on treatment of renal traumatic hemorrhage. Methods 12 patients underwent digital subtraction angiography with definite diagnosis of traumatic renal hemorrhage before embolization.Materials used in the embolization were gelfoam sponge chips and steel coils through super-selective renal arterial embolization. Results Macroscopic hematuria disappeared on 3rd to 5th day after operation. With an average follow-up of 10 months,no hemorrhage reoccurred in renal, renal function and blood pressure were normal in all patients. Conclusion Super-selective renal arterial embolization has advantages of less invasive, less complications, and good haemostatic efficacy, with maximal preservation of renal function for treatment of renal injuries.
