The clinical significance of E-cadherin/β-catenin and CD_(44)V_6 expression in gastric carcinoma

Abstract

Objective:To explore the expression and clinical significance of E-cadherin,β-catenin and CD44V6 in occurrence,development,metastasis and differentiation of gastric carcinoma.Methods:Immunohistochemical staining for E-cadherin,β-catenin and CD44V6 were performed to test biopsy specimens of human gastric tissues,including gastric carcinoma(70 cases),para-cancer tissue(30 cases),chronic atrophic gastritis tissues(25 cases)and normal gastric tissues(28 cases).Results:Immunohistochemical study showed that E-cadherin,β-catenin and CD44V6 were expressed in gastric cancer tissues with positive rate of 60.0%,68.6% and 71.4%,respectively.E-cadherin expression was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis and invasion.β-catenin expression was associated with tumor differentiation and invasion.CD44V6 was associated with tumor lymphnode metastasis and invasion.Conclusion:E-cadherin,β-catenin and CD44V6 expression are associated with invasion,metastasis and differentiation of gastric carcinoma,which are important factors for judging invasion metastasis and differentiation of gastric carcinoma.
