Abstract

Stearoylglycine was prepared by treating stearoyl chloride with an excess of glycine in a mixed solvent of water THF. When the mole ratio of glycine and stearoyl chloride was 2∶1 and the reaction was run for 2 h at 20 °C while maintaining the volume ratio of water and THF at 1∶4 and the pH in the range of 8.5~9.5, the yield of stearoylglycine was about 91.5%.
