Abstract

[Purpose] To investigate the gene loss and expression of p16 and CyclinD1 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),their correlation and clinical significance. [Methods] Gene loss of p16 in 151 specimens with NPC was detected by polymerase chain reaction(PCR). The expression of p16 and CyclinD1 protein in NPC and normal nasopharyngeal tissue were detected by SP immunohistochemistry. [Results] Loss rate of p16 gene exon 2 in NPC was 35.76%(54/151). Low expression of p16 in NPC(P0.0001) didn't correlate to gender, age and stage(P0.05). High expression of CyclinD1(P0.0001) didn't correlate to gender, age and stage (P0.05). [Conclusion] The loss of p16 gene exon 2 is found in NPC. There is a negative correlation between low expression of p16 and high expression of CyclinD1 in NPC(P0.0001).
