Abstract
The ecological footprint of Baiyin city in 2003 was conducted for calculation and analysis by applying the ecological footprint model. The results showed that Baiyin city had per capita ecological deficit of 1.341 28 hm2,exceeding 186% of the ecological capacity, which was in the unsustainable state. The main requirement room of ecological footprint was fossil energy land, which accounted for 65.5% of the full demand room, being 1.52 times of the total supply area of ecological footprint. The countermeasures of urban sustainable development were suggested according to the results of calculation and analysis.
