Abstract

The of towards the end of the 19th century pushed forward the modernization process of novels. However, this modernization remained at the stage of quantitative but radical change. It was only until the May 4th revolution in literature that the modernization of Chinese novels came to complete qualitative change from ideology to form,from real works to language and theory on novels. This paper describes the basic process of modernization of Chinese novels and the main features of this process.
