Abstract
The theories about the October Revolution, national revolutions and the revolutions in colonial countries developed by Vladimir Ilich Lenin and Stalin have influence on Chinese Communists deeply from two aspects.Firstly, they provide a theoretical basis of dividing Chinese democratic revolution into two types: old democratic revolution and new democratic revolution.Secondly, they provide a theoretical premise of judging that the Revolution of 1911 is a failure of revolution leaded by the weakness bourgeois.During the 28 years from 1921 to 1949,most Communists held the negative opinions on Revolution of 1911 because of their revolutionary consciousness.Their criticism has formed an inveterately criterion. These views are in line with the nature of historical facts, but also with the situation according to the needs of revolution to propose new tasks, indicating the nature of the new direction,so they are quite different from the academic evaluation criteria in the historical research. We should focus on improving the theoretical training, understanding and applying these views scientifically, but not just copy them in our practice.Since the founding of new China,Revolution of 1911 is the old democratic revolution. It has its successful aspect, but it is also a failure of the revolution,so the overall evaluation is basically not changed. The author believes that the Revolution of 1911 is a great national democratic revolution and the key turning point in Chinese history. From then on,the imperial authoritarian society has turned to modern democratic society. It is the beginning of national independence and modernization of the country, and it is also a significant symbol of national liberation in Asia and an important historical event in the world. The author argues that, for the thesis of failure of the Revolution of 1911,we should undertake the necessary screening and corrected it.
