Abstract

Objective To investigate the levels of serum high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in acute cerebral infarction patients(ACI) and the relationship between the hs-CRP levels and its correlation factors. Methods 62 patients with acute cerebral infarction were received carotid ultrasonographic examination, and then were classified into plaque group(n = 39) and non-plaque group(n =23).The serum hs-CRP levels and some other biochemical indexes were measured in 72 hrs after the onset.20 healthy people without carotid plaque were enrolled as control group. Results The level of serum hs-CRP in plaque group was higher than that of non- plaque group and control group(P 0.05),but no significant differences between non- plaque group and control group(P 0.05).The level of serum hs-CRP was positively correlated with TC(r= 0.321,P =0.011),LDL-C(r =0.341,P =0.007),HbA_(1c)(r =0.264,P =0.038),Fib(r =0.282,P =0.026),UA (r =0.284,P =0.025 ).Conclusion The level of serum hs-CRP is obviously increased in acute cerebral infarction patients with carotid plaques. There existed certain relation between the serum hs-CRP and the development of carotid plaques.
