Abstract
This paper summarizes following aspects such as the requirements imposed by high temperature on water base drilling fluids and the characteristics of high temperature water base drilling fluids,requirements of ultra deep well drilling on drilling fluids,the development of high temperature water base drilling fluid additives and the evaluation methods both in China and abroad,the field application of high temperature water base drilling fluids,and studies conducted on the rheology of high temperature drilling fluids in China,the rheology of high density drilling fluids,and the difficulties and development of high temperature drilling fluids in the future.
