The Ethnic Relations and the Differentiation between Yi and Xia in Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties

The ethnic relations of Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties are rather complicated,with the contradiction between Han regime and Minority regime being the main feature of relationship between nationalities in Wei and Western Jin Dynasties,and the contradiction between southern Han regime and northern minority regime being the main feature of relationship between nationalities in Southern and Northern Dynasties.As far as the discrimination between Yi(minorities) and Xia(Han Nationality) is concerned,the thinkers of Wei and Western Jin Dynasties who despised minorities hold extreme view of Yi and Xia,representing by Jiang Tong's(江统)book Theory on Migration of Minorities(《徙戎论》).Both southern and northern regimes regarded themselves as orthodox political power,and denounced the opposite side as being illegal during the period of Southern and Northern Dynasties.The controversy over legitimacy implies the historical and cultural identification with China.
