Observation on Germicidal Efficacy of an Iodophor Disinfectant

Objective To observe the germicidal efficacy and related properties of an iodophor disinfection solution, and to provide a scientific basis for using the iodine disinfectant correctly, reasonably and effectively. Methods The suspension quantitative disinfection tests were conducted in laboratory. Results Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli could be killed by iodine disinfectant of 50 mg/L available iodine for 3 min, the killing log value was above 5.00. Candida albicans was tested for 5 min, and the killing log value was above 5.00. After the iodophor disinfection solution was stored at 37℃ for 3 months, its available iodine content decreased by 7.84%. Conclusions Iodophor disinfection solution has high efficacy in killing vegetative forms of bacteria and fungi. And the stability is good.
