Abstract

Objective To evaluate the ventricular remodeling after selective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients with acute myocardial infarction using real time three dimensional echocardiography (RT-3DE).Methods Ninety patients with acute myocardial infarction for the first time were collected and divided into selective PCI group (44 cases) and conventional medical treatment group (46 cases). The left ventricular end diastolic volume (LVEDV),end systolic volume (LVESV) and ejection fraction (LVEF) were measured with real time three dimensional echocardiography on the admission to hospital and 3 months later. Results LVEDV and LVESV in the selective PCI groups were significantly less than those in the conventional medical treatment group (P0.01),while LVEF in the selective PCI group was significantly higher (P0.01).There was negative correlation between the decrease of LVEF and increase of LVEDV (r=-0.653).Conclusion PCI can reduce ventricular remodeling and improve cardiac function. The application of RT-3DE can visualize clearer dynamic morphology views of heart, measure LVEDV and LVESV more accurately and correctly reflect the ventricular remodeling and cardiac function of the patients with acute myocardial infarction.
