Mythical Archetype Theory and Novel Analysis: A Case Study on Hawthorne's Young Goodman Brow

Abstract

This article studies Hawthorne's greatest short story Young Goodman Brown from mythical archetype perspective to see whether Hawthorne creates the story based on the myths.From the analyses of its characterization and structure,the assumption is verified.And reading the fiction from this perspective,readers can further understand the features and writing purpose of Hawthorne.
