Abstract
In order to look for new gene of Schistosoma japonicum, and study function of genes, automated partial DNA sequencing was conducted on randomly selected Schistosoma japonicum (China mainland strain) complementary DNA (cDNA) clones to generate expressed sequence tags (ESTs). Input them to GenBank and EMBL databases to conduct homology analysis and predict probable amino acid sequences and their function. Of the sequences generated, 75 sequences have not been previously described in Schistosoma japonicum, and there are some possible significant biological interest clones. EST is a quick and efficient approach to find new gene. The use of bioinformatics software is promising.
