Abstract
Objective To investigate the association between serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and insulin resistance and metabolic disorder in type 2 diabetes. Methods Eight hundred and six in-patient of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) and one hundred and three checkup subjects were analyzed for ALT,AST,the anthropometrical parameters, blood pressure(BP),serum lipids, serum glucose and white blood cell count(WBC).Homeostasis model assessment(HOMA) was applied to assess the status of insulin resistance. All subjects were divided into four groups according to quartiles of ALT:ALT_1 group(10U/L),ALT_2 group(10~14.9U/L),ALT_3 group(15~21.9U/L) and ALT_4 group(≥22U/L).Results The levels of fasting insulin(FINS) and HOMA-IR were elevated accompany by ALT increased(P0.05).The levels of LogALT and LogAST were elevated accompany by the number of metabolic disorder increased. After adjustments for sex and age,LogALT were still positively correlated with LogFINS and LogHOMA-IR(P0.05).LogAST was positively correlated with LogHOMA-IR(P0.05).Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed number of metabolic disorder and LogHOMA-IR were the independent risk factors affected the level of LogALT in total subjects(P0.05).Conclusions The increased levels of ALT and AST were related to insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome in type 2 diabetets.
