Abstract

Zuijin(最近)was a loose modifier-head phrase before Song(宋)Dynasty,expressing the distance or relation not far from each other.It evolved gradually into a noun in the Song(宋)Dynasty,denoting recently or soon.This paper traces this process of lexicalization of Zuijin(最近).
