Controlled observation of elderly hospital acquired pneumonia treated with ceftazidine combined with netilmicin sulfate or L-ofloxacin

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of ceftazidime combined with netilmicin sulfate in treatment of hospital acquired pneumonia in elders.Methods 42 patients were divided into two groups at random.22 cases in the treated group were administered with ceftazidime combined with netilmicin sulfate.The dosage of ceftazidime was 2 g,twice daily intravenously;the dosage of netilmicin was 0.2-0.3 g,once daily intravenously.20 cases in control group were received ceftazidime combined with levofloxacin,the dosage of ceftazidime was 2 g,twice daily intravenously;the dosage of levofloxacin was 0.5g,once daily intravenously.The duration of treatment was 7-14 d for either of both groups.Results The efficacy rates were 81.3% vs 80% for treated group and control group respectively,the bacterial clearance rates were 84.6% vs 83.3%.The adverse drug reaction rates were 13.6% vs 10%,respectively.There were no statistical differences between the two groups.Conclusions Ceftazidime combined with netilmicin sulfate is effective and safe for the treatment of hospital acquired pneumonia in elders.
