Abstract
Objective To analyze the mechanisms in correction of skeletal class Ⅲmalocclusion with Multiloop Edgewise Arch Wire(MEAW), the mechanical characteristics of preloaded “L loop. Methods 15 patients with skeletal class Ⅲmalocclusion were treated with MEAW technique. Cephalometric analysis was performed with pre-treatment and post-treatment cephalograms. Paired t-test was conducted to assess the treatment effects. Results L6-XI decreased by 2.54 mm, but L7-XI decreased by 2.53 mm. L6/MP increased by 7.2°, and L7/MP increased by 7.6°, and OP/MP increased by 5.64°. Skeleton changed a little. There was no significant change in the soft tissue. Conclusion FX and FY increase while the length of the medial arm increases, and FY increases more with the distal arm than with the medial arm. Conclusions The change in molar relationship and overjet is achieved by upright and distal movement of the lower posterior teeth. Occlusal plane is flattened. Dento-alveolar changes a little.
