Abstract
Objective To evaluate the treatment effects of MEAW therapy on skeletal class Ⅲmalocclusion.Methods 16 patients with skeletal classⅢ malocclusion were treated with MEAW technique.Cephalometric analysis was performed with pre-treatment and post-treatment cephalograms.Paired t-test was conducted to assess the treatment effects.Results The comparison of before and after orthodontic treatment with MEAW technique showed angle SNA increased by 2.08°,angle SNB decreased by 1.49°,L6-FHV decreased by 3.12mm,angle L6-Mp decreased by 9.83°,and overjet increased by 4.92 mm.Conclusions Teeth moving and alveolar rebuilding were the main changes after the treatment by MEAW technique.The improvement in molar relationship and overjet is achieved by upright and distal movement of the lower posterior teeth.Mild and moderate skeletal classⅢ occlusion can be treated successfully by MEAW technique.
