Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of shoulder triple-needles with warm needling plus point-toward-point method applied to the distal acupoint in treating periarthritis of shoulder. Method Fifty-six eligible patients with periarthritis of shoulder were randomized into two groups. Twenty-eight patients in the treatment group were intervened by shoulder triple-needles with warm needling plus point-toward-point method applied to distal acupoints, while the other 28 patients were intervened by electroacupuncture. Result After 2 treatment courses, there was no significant difference in comparing the total effective rate between the two groups(P0.05). However, the recovery rate and remarkable effect rate in the treatment group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P0.05). Conclusion The therapeutic efficacy of shoulder triple-needles with warm needling plus point-toward-point method applied to the distal acupoint is more significant than that of electroacupuncture in treating periarthritis of shoulder.
