Abstract
The method of making benzoic acid by oxidizing the benzyl ether mixture with the acid potassium permanganate solution is researched. The factors affecting the reaction, such as time and temperature, the amount of potassium permanganate and acidity, were discussed. The optimal reaction conditions were obtained by orthogonal experimental design: 6.5 g potassium permanganate was dissolved with 150 mL water, joining 3 mL sulfuric acid. The solution reacted with 2.5 mL benzyl ether mixture(approximately 3 g) as oxidizing agent. The total yield was over 94.8% under the optimal condition with the purity of over 99.5%.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
