Abstract
The nylon 1010/montmorillonite nanocomposites are prepared through intercalation polymerization. Crystallization behavior of the nanocomposites and dispersion of montmorillonite in the nylon 1010 matrix are studied by means of SEM, WAXD and DSC. The results show that the nanocomposites have different crystallization behavior and crystal structure with nylon 1010. The presence of montmorillonite in the nanocomposites increases the crystallization temperature of nylon 1010 and narrows the width of the crystalline peak, montmotillonite disperses nearly to a degree of nano scale in the nylon 1010 matrix. Mechanical property testing shows that the properties of the nylon 1010/montmorillonite nanocomposites are superior to that of nylon 1010.
