Abstract

The study researches the effect of every factor on degredating the phenol concentration in water by UV/Fenton oxidation process, confirming the process conditions of the phenol wastewater treatment by UV/Fenton oxidation process. While keeping the basic reaction condition of the UV/Fenton system constant,we investigated the influence of these factors by UV/Fenton oxidation process, through controlling the dosage of H2O2,Fe2+ mass concentration,pH value, aeration, etc. The results show that when the original pH value of the wastewater was 3.0,the degradation rate of phenol reached 99%,and the removal rate of COD reached 86% through 30 min reaction. But the removal rate of the COD of phenol wastewater was less than the degradation rate of phenol. The new method is capable of removing phenol and COD of wastewater in a short time. The dosage of H2O2,Fe2+mass concentration has a lager influence on the treatment effect. The degradation rate of phenol and removal rate of COD are determined by the dosage of H2O2,while the Fe2+ mass concentration is the dominant factor affecting the degradation rate.
