Abstract

In the earlier phase of Qing Dynasty,in order to suppress the armed rebellions of the tribe of Mongolian zhan Geer and the tribe of Huizu in the south of Xinjiang,the government of Qing Dynasty launched a war on a long term basis,This resulted in the substantial decrease of the number of residents and the great economic depression in the vast Western Regions which held a very important position from the point of geography.The government of Qing Dynasty,considering the development of the politics and the military,exploited vast areas for farmiag,built many irrigation works and carried out a lot of afforestation projects.To look back upon the agricultural development of the Western Regions in the earlier phase of Qing Dynasty is of great importance of reference for today's great development campaign of Western Regions.
