The contrast study between Citalopram and Amitriptyline in treatment of depression

Abstract

Objective :To compare the clinic effects and the safety of Citalopram and Amitriptyline in treatment of depression. Methods:62patients with depression were randomly divided into two groups; 31patients took Citalopram and others took Amitriptyline. All patients were treated for 6 weeks; HAMD and TESS were evaluated before treatment and at the end of the frist,2th,4th,6thweeks after the treatment. Results: The effect of Citalopram and Amitriptyline had no significant difference(P0.05), The safety of Citaloprama were hither than Amitriptyline. Conclusions: The patients with Citaloprama treated have better curative effect and fewer side effects than Amitriptyline.
